Britain signs first post-Brexit free trade agreement with Japan

Britain, which left the European Union in January, signed the first important post-Brexit free trade agreement with Japan.

In a written statement from the British Ministry of Commerce, “Britain signed the first major trade agreement with Japan as a commercially independent country.” statements were included.

The agreement was signed between British Trade Minister Liz Truss and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.

With the agreement, British companies will be able to avoid customs duties on 99 percent of their exports to Japan. In a statement made by the Ministry of Commerce, it was stated that this would especially benefit the industry, agriculture and technology sectors.

Britain, which left the European Union on January 31, aims to sign new trade agreements with the European Union and the United States before the end of the year.
