The third stage of the Turkey Drone Championship, organized as part of TEKNOFEST, started in Artvin.
19 licensed athletes from 12 provinces participated in the races held in the garden of Artvin Governorship Kaledibi Pier Social Facilities.
The championship, conducted by Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret AŞ (STM), consists of 3 stages and a final race.
After the third stage of the races, the first stage of which was held in Kastamonu and the second stage in Sinop, was completed in Artvin, the final of the Turkish Drone Championship will be held in Samsun on 30-31 August with the participation of the top-ranking athletes.
Athletes who will take the first two places in the final race will be entitled to represent Turkey in the “TEKNOFEST 2022 World Drone Cup”.
On the first day of the competitions, after the qualifying rounds, the athletes struggled to complete the track consisting of 15 gates without errors and in the fastest way.
The athletes to be ranked will be determined at the end of the final competitions to be held tomorrow.
Mehmet Öztekin, Member of the Board of Directors of Turkey Air Sports and organizer of the TEKNOFEST Turkey Drone Championship, told reporters that they aim to encourage both students and citizens in the regions where the competitions are held.
Öztekin stated that those who made it to the last 16 in the races will participate in the final competitions in Samsun, “The first and second places in the final will compete in the TEKNOFEST World Drone Championship, which will be held with the participation of 32 athletes from 28 countries.” said.
Atakan Mercimek, who participated in the races from Adana, stated that he has been the champion of the TEKNOFEST Turkey Drone Championship for the last two years.
Explaining that the pilots participated in these races after intense training, Lentil said, “The competitors make the drones themselves. It is difficult to fly them because they go very fast. Therefore, hard training is required. There are very talented pilots. The competition is at a high level. The third stage, Artvin, came first. I want to join Samsun in the final stage, and then represent our country in the world championship.” he said.
National athlete Hüseyin Ablak also stated that he has been a drone pilot for 8 years and has degrees in Turkey and the world.
Emphasizing that he won 5 titles from England to Turkey, Ablak said, “We are in the third stage in Artvin. We left Kastamonu and Sinop behind. We competed with Turkey’s fastest competitors there. We came here. We came here. From here we went to Samsun for the final stage. we will go.” said
Fatih Güler, who participated in the races with his 12-year-old son from Osmaniye, stated that he has been dealing with this business professionally for two years and said, “I am also doing this job with my son. He is one of the youngest pilots in Turkey. My son participated in the tournaments this year too. It’s been three stages. It’s nice. going, millet to other tours.” used the phrases.
