According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent, the Ministry has left behind 20 years in the market surveillance and control activities it has coordinated since 2002. It is aimed to prevent unsafe and inappropriate products from reaching the consumer, to prevent unfair competition caused by these, and to establish a fair competition environment in the market.
In this context, the number of products inspected in 2021 increased by 12 percent compared to the previous year, from 187,127 to 208,948. 11,813 of the inspected products were found to be inappropriate and 642 unsafe. The rate of parties found inappropriate was 5.7 percent, and the rate of those found unsafe was 0.3 percent.
When looking at the most inspected product groups last year, it was seen that the inspections of food products and materials and materials that come into contact with food, chemical and organic fertilizers, biocidal products, feed, energy efficiency, elevators, electrical equipment, ready mixed concrete and construction materials other than ready mixed concrete came to the fore.
Imported products also passed inspection
It was determined that 30,355 of the 208,948 party products inspected by the authorized institutions in the domestic market were imported products. Imported products accounted for 15 percent of the total inspected products.
29,488 batches of inspected imported products were found suitable, 813 unsuitable and 54 unsafe.
The ratio of imported products among all nonconforming products was determined as 7 percent. This ratio had reached 23 percent in 2020.
A decrease was observed in the ratio of imported products among all products in which insecurity was detected. The said rate, which was 11 percent in 2020, dropped to 8 percent in 2021.
The top 5 product groups with the highest number of nonconforming products in inspected imported products in 2021 were listed as cosmetics, radio and telecommunication terminal equipment, machinery, food products and electrical equipment.
The top 5 product groups with the highest level of insecurity in the inspected imported products were electrical equipment, energy efficiency, stationery products, machinery and other consumer products.
As a result of the inspections carried out last year, the administrative fine applied to the products that were found to be inappropriate and unsafe was recorded as 217 million 367 thousand 979 liras.
