It was stated that at least 38 people lost their lives after the forest fires that continued in the cities of et-Tarif and Setif in Algeria spread to the villages and towns. At least 200 people have been injured so far due to the flames.
While 2,400 hectares of forest and maquis areas have been ash in the said regions, more than 350 people have been evacuated from their homes for security reasons.
In the images on the social media, it was seen that hundreds of people were evacuated from the settlements close to the fire areas, where the firefighters and the army, as well as the citizens, participated in the fire extinguishing efforts.
In recent weeks, the air temperatures in the country have exceeded 45 degrees in places, and since the beginning of August, more than 100 large and small fires broke out in many cities. Hot winds from the south are another factor that complicates firefighting efforts.
